Safer Play
This page lists every tool you can switch on to keep your play at Windsor Casino on your terms. It also explains how limit changes take effect and which organisations offer free, confidential support.
Keeping the fun switched on
Bright reels. Fast tables. Quick payouts. That is the Windsor Casino night out, and it only works while the game still feels like a treat.
Every account comes with safer play tools from day one. Each tool listed below is available under account settings. Prefer email? Write to our team and we will activate any of them for you. No one here will encourage a higher limit, and turning on a tool is not read as a sign of trouble. It is just a sensible habit.
- Spend only money you can afford to lose.
- Treat every loss as the price of the evening, not a debt to win back.
- Stop when the night stops being fun.
Checking in with yourself
Our self-assessment quiz is private and only needs a few minutes. The answers are yours alone, and based on your results the quiz suggests the tools that fit. Among the questions it asks:
- Do you play for longer than you planned?
- Do you raise your stakes to chase a loss?
- Have you borrowed money, or dipped into money set aside for bills, so you could carry on playing?
- Do you hide your play from people close to you?
- When you try to cut back, do you feel restless or irritable?
A single yes to these questions deserves serious attention. Put a limit in place or take a break, and contact a free helpline or support service from the list below.
Setting your spending limits
Three kinds of limit, one goal: you decide the ceiling before the lights come up.
- Deposit limit: restricts the amount you can pay into your balance during a period you choose.
- Wager limit: puts a cap on the overall amount you can stake within a time frame you select.
- Stake limit: caps how much any single bet can be, so every hand or spin stays at the amount you planned.
Once a limit is reached, the account blocks further deposits or bets until the period runs out.
Using reality checks
Reality checks light up during play and put the game on hold. Every pop-up displays how much time this session has clocked and whether you're ahead or behind in total. You set the frequency. Then the call is yours: keep going or sign off.
Setting time alerts
A time alert lets you mark a point in your session in advance. When the clock hits it, you get a clear notice, so a quick game after dinner does not quietly turn into a late night.
Taking a cooling-off break
Need some space? You can lock your account for anything between 24 hours and 6 weeks.
- No deposits and no bets while the break is running.
- No marketing messages are sent while the break lasts.
- The break cannot be cancelled early, even by our team.
- Your balance stays safe and can still be withdrawn.
Choosing self-exclusion
Self-exclusion is meant for cases where a short break is not enough. You pick a longer period, your account remains locked throughout it, and it cannot be reopened before that period ends.
- All play, deposits and offers stop at once.
- We remove you from every marketing list.
- We take reasonable steps to stop new accounts being opened in your name.
- Whatever balance is left goes back to you.
Closing your account
Ready to close your account permanently? An email is all it takes. We close it and pay out any balance still available for withdrawal. Tell us if gambling is behind the decision and we will record the closure as a self-exclusion, so a passing impulse cannot reverse it.
Verification before you first deposit
No deposit is accepted at Windsor Casino until three checks are complete: identity, an age of 19 or over, and whether the player's location is one we can serve. This keeps underage and excluded players away from the floor. Our Verification and AML page has the details.
Understanding how limit changes take effect
Lowering a limit applies at once. Raising one comes with a waiting period.
- Decreases apply the moment you save them.
- Increases wait 24 hours before they kick in. That is one full day to think it over.
- Removing a limit follows the same rule as an increase, including the same 24 hour wait.
- Cooling-off breaks and self-exclusion last until the period you chose has ended.
Protecting minors
Windsor Casino accepts players aged 19+ only. We verify age before a first deposit goes through, and any account found to be used by a minor is closed. Our 19+ Policy explains each measure we take and lists tools parents can use at home.
Reaching free support
Free and confidential support is available from these organisations, both for players and for those close to them:
- Responsible Gambling Council
- ConnexOntario
- Alberta Health Services Addiction Helpline
- 211 Alberta
There is no need to wait for a serious problem before you get in touch. Talking things through early can change a great deal.
